Your data is safe
with us.

We take data security seriously. Every data-bearing device that comes through our doors is securely sanitized using industry-leading methods and certified processes.

Industry-Leading Certifications

NIST SP800-88 Compliant

Our data sanitization processes follow the National Institute of Standards and Technology guidelines for media sanitization—the same standards used by government agencies.

i-SIGMA Certified

We're certified by the International Secure Information Governance & Management Association, ensuring our data destruction meets the highest industry standards.

Our Data Destruction Process

From the moment your device arrives, it's handled with security in mind.

1

Secure Intake

Data-bearing devices are immediately identified and tagged at drop-off.

2

Secure Transport

Devices are moved directly to our secure, staff-only data area.

3

Data Sanitization

Trained staff perform certified data destruction using approved methods.

4

Verification

Each device is verified to ensure complete data removal before processing.

The Secure Data Area

All data-bearing devices go directly to our secure data area—a staff-only zone where your sensitive information is protected throughout the sanitization process.

This dedicated space ensures chain of custody from intake to destruction.

  • Staff-only access with restricted entry
  • Dedicated workstations for data sanitization
  • Complete chain of custody documentation

Data Destruction Methods

Software Overwrite

For functional drives, we use NIST-approved software to overwrite all data multiple times, making recovery impossible.

Used for drives that will be refurbished and reused

Physical Destruction

For drives that can't be overwritten or when requested, we physically destroy the storage media through shredding or degaussing.

Used for failed drives or when higher security is required

Certificate of Data Destruction

Need documentation for compliance or peace of mind? We offer Certificates of Data Destruction that verify your data has been securely sanitized.

Certificates include device serial numbers, destruction method used, date of destruction, and staff verification.

Prefer to Wipe Your Own Data?

If you'd like to erase your data before donating, we recommend using DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke)—a free, open-source tool for secure data destruction.

Even if you wipe your device beforehand, we'll still run our own sanitization process for complete peace of mind.

DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke)

Download DBAN for free and create a bootable USB or CD to securely wipe your hard drive before donation.

Note: DBAN works on traditional hard drives (HDDs) but may not fully wipe solid-state drives (SSDs). We can handle both types at our facility.
